Boxing bandages look complicated on professional boxers or in boxing movies. But here they often use tape, bandages and extra padding, which is not necessary for regular boxing training. Here, the boxing gloves have more than enough padding, you can easily put the boxing bandages on yourself in about a minute per hand.

How to put on boxing bandages – traditional method.

The most common and easiest way to wrap your boxing bandage is this. It provides good support for your wrists, thumbs and fingers. The method is simple and without hocus pocus and works well for most people.

Start by attaching the boxing bandage to your thumb. Make sure the correct side is facing your hand so that the Velcro will be facing the right way when you are finished. This is sometimes marked “this side in”. Or it is easy to see which side the seam goes on – this side should be the inside.

Wrap the boxing bandage around your wrist a few times before wrapping it up your hands and up to your knuckles. Let the bandage go a little below the knuckle, so that some of the finger is covered but the first joint is free.

Don't tighten it too much, but the bandage shouldn't hang loosely around your hands either. Find a comfortable middle ground.

Keep your wrist and fingers stable at all times. You can sometimes feel the bandage by clenching your fist.

Wrap back down towards the wrist.

Wrap the bandage around your thumb once, secure it around your wrist, and repeat. Your thumb is now secured.

Check how much bandage you have left and continue wrapping around your wrist and knuckles. Finish at the wrist.

Repeat on the other hand.
